Those of you who follow me on Instagram and Facebook will already know that I’m The Quiet Heart. The name was devised last year in the midst of huge personal change but it felt too early to start using it for Gemma David Acupuncture; I needed to settle in to it. Currently we’re working on changing the website and the logo, but this won’t be ready for a little while.
Gemma David Acupuncture worked well when I was building an acupuncture practice in Bristol. But in September last year I decided that it was time to start incorporating my other skills and qualifications. I’ve had many years of Human Resource Management experience which included high level business and personal development training. I am a qualified coach, registered psychometric tester and have delivered training days and presented to large groups of people too – the most notable of which was in front of 1000 people in Lincoln Cathedral. I’ve also managed businesses with over 20 million pounds turnover.
In my practice I’m not just delivering acupuncture. My degree at Lincoln University provided me with training on the whole of Chinese Medicine Theory, which places great emphasis on living with the seasons and balance with your body. A treatment with me not only looks at your symptoms; it includes coaching and lifestyle advice to help you become healthy.
Personally, I’ve been practicing yoga for 20 years, have completed the London Marathon and several half-marathon’s and have been practicing mindfulness for 11 years. I have given birth, suffered miscarriages and experienced much heartache and change in my life so far. I had a major career change 6 years ago and have moved to many cities to begin projects, and this year, I will get divorced. None of the change I have experienced has been negative and I’m a strong believer in learning from all my experiences, whether I label them good or bad. My ability to empathise, coach and support my patients and clients is strong.
I am about to qualify as a Mindfulness Teacher and a few weeks ago began working in a school to help students with emotional literacy and mental health. I also have a wonderful massage therapist using my clinic room (more on Indre soon) and we have mediation classes here in the evenings.
The business has evolved beautifully to provide spaces and experiences to help you reconnect with yourself. Our lives are so noisy and fast, that we are losing the ability to connect with our innermost being. High levels of stress and adrenaline will affect your ability to function properly but if we can help you/your children meditate, live with an awareness of the seasons and connect with your body, you will hear your heart and feel your body guiding you through life. You will hear what feels right.
With love,
Gemma
