Pre-birth treatments are individually tailored and have an overall emphasis of preparing your body to move naturally towards the delivery of your baby.
Studies have demonstrated that pre-birth treatments are successful in helping elicit:
- 35% reduction in the number of inductions (for women having their first baby this was a 43% reduction)
- 31% reduction in the epidural rate
- 32% reduction in emergency caesarean deliveries
- 9% increase in ‘normal’ vaginal births
Traditional Chinese Medicine places great emphasis on the wellbeing of the mother postnatally.
Traditionally women were housebound for one month, often forced stay in bed with the baby and meals being brought to them as neccessary.
Our culture (and also modern day Chinese culture) means that often the close network or family and friends isn’t so available, hence the wellbeing of the mother is often overlooked.
Treatment during this time places emphasis on nourishing the mother both mentally and physically.
Advice on food and lifestyle adjustments for this time is also given.
